eyeimagein.com: My Photos
I hope you enjoy my view of the world. I love to find the abstract in the real, especially in the natural world. Sometimes people ask "What is it?" Don't worry about it. If we could see even 1% of the world around us for what it is, our heads would be spinning! If you can, go outside today, regardless of the weather or where you are, and enjoy what is around you. While most of these were taken with various digital cameras, I do very little processing—basically I use Elements and Light Room to adjust contrast and brightness, tweek and crop. Enjoy!

I'm pleased and honored that these photographs have been selected by BetterPhoto website as prize winners. Sometimes it is difficult to know how a photograph will be viewed by others so this is a good guide that at least some of mine are connecting in the ways I'd hoped they would. Enjoy!

I seem to spend as much time looking at the sky as I do details on the ground. Why not?!

© John Snell PhotoID# 1580424: Lily #1 Flowers (17)
Ever since I was a kid and picked bouquets for my mom (and once, mistakenly, some ragweed for my dad who sneezed and sneezed!), i've found flowers to be an endless source of inspiration.

Although I've lived in Vermont for thirty years I still don't take the landscapes for granted. I do find them challenging to photograph but keep on trying.

In July 2006 I had a chance to visit this remarkable country. It is an ancient country and culture in the crossroads of East and West civilzations and midway between the Islamic and Christian worlds. Though economically devastated, it is rich in spirit and culture.

Patterns repeat themselves in so many places in the natural world. I'm sort of a rock nut, I guess, and hope you too can see something in them and the sand patterns as well.

If you live in a place where there is no frozen water, I feel sorry for you. Get dressed in warm clothes and come visit.

Once I was a tree and I look forward to being one again someday. In the meanwhile, in this lifetime, I'll make lots of photographs of them and plants and leaves.

I love finding these abstract relationships in life. They are everywhere if I wait and keep my eyes open.

© John Snell PhotoID# 2770526: North Wales #3 Wales (11)
I've been fottunate to spend time in many parts of Wales recently. My only thought is that I'll return often.

I could easily spend the rest of my life sitting by a stream watching the water and light and listening to the music of it all.
